The 60th Anniversary Meeting of the IPPS Eastern Region will be held September 29th through October 2nd, 2010 at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Warwick, Rhode Island. This affordable, attractive, facility is located just 1.5 miles from Green Airport (PVD), serviced by all major airlines, and adjacent to I-95, Exit 12 in Rhode Island.
The meeting will follow our usual format with some exciting twists!
- The Pretour
on Wednesday, September 29th, will visit nurseries, greenhouses and botanical gardens west of Boston.
- The full day educational sessions on Thursday will be followed by a classic New England clambake.
- On Friday attendees will have a choice of two full day tours:
- traveling either to 3 cutting edge nurseries in eastern Connecticut,
- or to Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts where we will tour 3 successful growers and the region's top rewholesaler.
What will you find in Rhode Island ("Rogue Island" as RI native and IPPS member Dave Beattie used to say)? You'll discover rugged coastlines, warm sandy beaches (and warm water that time of year!), forests, historic architecture, classic farms, and excellent restaurants. If you can afford a few extra days consider side trips to the Arnold Arboretum and Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Logees Greenhouses, Newport mansions and yacht basin, Boston, and much more.
